NEOPRENE SHEET BLUE - 30X100CM

£45.60

A versatile, cut-to-size neoprene sheet built for the kind of gear protection that film crew actually need quick, flexible and reliable. At 30x100cm, you've got enough to wrap a prime lens, pad the inside of a Peli case divider, or lay down a protective surface when building up a camera on a dusty location floor.

Neoprene has been the go-to protective material in camera equipment wraps for years, and for good reason. It's inherently water-resistant, absorbs shock from knocks and vibration, and provides a thermal buffer that helps prevent condensation forming on cold glass when you move gear between environments, something every camera assistant who's worked a winter exterior knows all too well.

The blue colour pairs naturally with the red variant for a simple, visual department coding system. Assign a colour per camera unit, per lens type or per case, whatever keeps your kit organised when time is tight and the pressure's on.

Good general-purpose neoprene; blue on one side and black on the other.  Can be used to make lens doughnuts, for padding or for various everyday needs.

Key Properties:

  • Water resistant: repels rain, condensation and spills to keep equipment dry
  • Shock absorbing: cushions lenses and camera bodies against knocks and vibration during transport
  • Thermally insulating: helps stabilise equipment temperature when moving between cold exteriors and warm interiors
  • Easy to cut: trim to any shape with standard scissors; won't fray or unravel at the edges
  • Lightweight & flexible: conforms to the shape of whatever you're wrapping without adding bulk to your kit bag

FAQs

Can I cut neoprene to a custom size?

Yes. Neoprene cuts cleanly with standard scissors or a craft knife and won't fray, unravel or lose its water-resistant properties along the cut edge. This makes it easy to create custom-shaped wraps for specific lenses, accessories or case compartments.

Is neoprene waterproof?

Neoprene is water-resistant, meaning it will repel rain, condensation and light splashes effectively. It is not designed for full submersion. For a rainy location day, neoprene provides a reliable barrier between your equipment and the elements, but it's not a substitute for a dedicated rain cover on an active camera.

Will neoprene scratch my lenses or camera body?

No. Neoprene has a soft, slightly textured surface that grips gently without scratching coated glass, painted surfaces or anodised metal. It's the same material used in professional camera lens wraps and pouches by brands like LensCoat and OP/TECH.

How do I clean neoprene?

Wipe down with a damp cloth or hand wash in lukewarm water with mild soap. Lay flat to air dry. Neoprene dries quickly, maintains its shape and doesn't absorb odours — which is more than can be said for most things that spend time in the back of a camera truck.

What's the difference between neoprene and foam padding?

Foam inserts compress over time and lose their cushioning. Neoprene retains its thickness and elasticity through repeated use. It's also inherently water-resistant, whereas most foams absorb moisture. For equipment that gets packed and unpacked daily on a shooting schedule, neoprene is the more durable, longer-lasting option.

Can I use neoprene to prevent condensation on equipment?

Yes. Wrapping lenses and camera bodies in neoprene before moving between different temperature environments slows the rate of temperature change, which reduces condensation forming on glass and electronic contacts. It's a common technique used by camera assistants working on exterior winter shoots.
